S45C steel is a medium-carbon steel containing approximately 0.44–0.48% carbon, along with alloying elements such as silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), sulfur (S), and phosphorus (P). It is well known for its high strength, good toughness, excellent wear resistance, and favorable mechanical properties. Compared with low-carbon steels, S45C offers superior hardness and load-bearing capability, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications.
Due to these characteristics, S45C steel is widely used in applications requiring higher strength and wear resistance than low-carbon steel grades such as SS400, CT3, and ASTM A36.
